So which winch is for you? Answer the following questions and you will be guided to a suitable winch for your application (table at the bottom of this page).

Do you need a self recovery winch?
As a rough guide multiply the gross vehicle weight x 1.5 to achieve the line pull required. You should include equipment and passenger weights in this calculation. Also this does not account for really sticky, sucking mud and you are up to the roof top!

M12000 suits heavy vehicles with work to do, perhaps with recovery and self recovery.
eg GMC, Dodge, Ford (not Explorer) LR Defender.

M10000 suits heavier vehicles with self recovery or easy recovery of others.
eg GMC, Dodge, Ford (not Explorer) LR Defender, Jeep Scrambler.

9000lbs/4100kgs
XD9000i will suit nearly every 4x4, but may be too heavy for Suzuki and Jeep Wrangler YJ.

8000lbs/3600kgs
X8000i new look winch, this size will suit nearly every 4x4, but may be too heavy for Suzuki, etc.
M8000 tradional look, but similar to above.

5000lbs/2200kg
M5000 will suit all lighter 4x4, but could be too, light for GMC, Dodge, Ford, LR Defender, Toyota Landcruiser, Full sized Jeep Cherokee/Wagoneer.
